3. Equipment Introduction

Longitudinal seam welding machine
This equipment consists of a welding host and a control system. The welding host and the control system are connected through cables to form an organic whole, which is convenient for installation and debugging work.

Welding host
The standard welding host mainly consists of a main frame, a key pressing plate type pneumatic fixture, a welding core shaft, a core shaft bracket, a welding gun walking mechanism, a welding torch lifting mechanism, a pneumatic centering mechanism, a welding gun adjustment mechanism, and an air path control system.
  1. Main Frame
The main frame adopts a frame-type welding structure, with sufficient rigidity and strength to ensure stability during long-term equipment use. The base can be secured with ground anchor bolts to ensure stability during welding. Small doors are provided on the sides of the main frame cabinet, with pneumatic control components such as air source treatment units, solenoid valves, and electrical terminal blocks installed inside the side doors.
2) Piano-key Type Pneumatic Fixture
This piano-key type pneumatic fixture is uniquely designed for longitudinal seam welding. The pressing piano keys feature a special pressure mechanism, exerting a forward force while clamping the workpiece, which automatically eliminates assembly gaps along the seam. All piano key pressure plates uniformly clamp the workpiece over its entire length using flexible airbags, while the welding pads on the welding core provide excellent heat dissipation and cooling protection for the workpiece, ensuring reliable guarantee for high-quality, efficient, and distortion-free welding of thin-walled workpieces.

The piano-key type pneumatic fixture consists of components such as beams, airbags, and piano key pressure plates. The beam is a welded steel structural component, with two sets symmetrically arranged to ensure sufficient rigidity and strength, preventing deformation during use. The beam of the piano-key type pneumatic fixture forms a cantilever beam structure with the main frame, facilitating the loading and unloading of cylindrical or other enclosed workpieces that require longitudinal seam welding. The fixture airbags are installed inside the beam and utilize compressed air supplied to the airbags. Through expansion, the airbags distribute pressure using flexible airbags and a top pressure lever mechanism to clamp the workpiece. The pressure plates adopt a piano-key type structure, with the head pressure fingers using copper inlay to quickly dissipate heat from the welding area during welding, providing good protection for thin-walled workpieces. Additionally, copper piano key pressure plates can prevent arc magnetic offset during welding and are not susceptible to welding contamination. The distance between the left and right piano key pressure fingers can be adjusted within a range of 0 to 20mm to accommodate the welding process requirements for weld seam width when welding different workpiece thicknesses.

The pressing plate at the front end of the piano key pressing plate has been changed to purple copper material. The purple copper pressing plate belongs to vulnerable parts. If it is burned and damaged during welding, it will result in loose pressing of the workpiece and reduced heat dissipation protection effect. Please replace or repair damaged copper pressure fingers in a timely manner, otherwise it will affect the welding quality of the workpiece.

 
  1. Welding core shaft
The welding core shaft is a rigid cylindrical welding structure that provides back support and protection for the workpiece. The top of the core shaft is embedded with a replaceable back protection copper liner, providing good heat dissipation and cooling protection for the workpiece during welding. The protective pad has a flat and grooved structure on both sides. When welding thin plates, the flat surface can be facing upwards; When welding medium thick plates, the concave surface can be facing upwards. The vertical height of the core shaft can be adjusted by the adjusting screw on the base to meet the welding needs of different plate thicknesses. Multiple small holes are machined into the grooves of the back protection pad, arranged equidistant, for forming protective gas on the back side, filling the back of the workpiece with a protective atmosphere, forming a protective air cushion, and providing gas protection on the back side of the workpiece.
 
  1. Core Shaft Bracket
The core shaft bracket is fixed on the beams at both ends of the piano-key type pneumatic fixture. Before welding, the bracket is used to lock the end of the welding core shaft, ensuring that the beam and the welding core shaft are connected as a whole. This prevents deformation between the welding core shaft and the beam due to the pressure from the piano key pressure plate clamping the workpiece, ensuring its rigidity.
 
  1. Welding Gun Travel Mechanism
The welding gun travel mechanism is driven by rolling sliders guided and driven by guide rails, allowing for uniform movement on the beam guide rails. The cross-section of the guide rail beam is square, providing high strength and light weight. The guide rails are made by embedding hardened guide rail bars, and the movement is driven by gear rack transmission. The travel motor drives the gear to engage with the rack in a floating manner, avoiding instability or decreased precision caused by machining inaccuracies or rack deformation. Travel limit switches are installed at both ends of the beam guide rails to protect the travel mechanism by limiting its movement, ensuring that the sliders do not exceed the guide rails and cause equipment damage.

The slider of the welding gun travel mechanism is equipped with a manual two-dimensional adjustment mechanism for the welding gun, enabling fine adjustments in the X and Y directions. All moving cables and gas pipes are press-fitted into the cable protection drag chain located behind the beam guide rail, and then routed through the drag chain into the terminal block on the electrical installation board of the machine base. The slider of the welding gun travel mechanism is driven by a worm gear reduction DC servo motor, with speed controlled by a closed-loop pulse optical encoder. The welding stroke length can be preset using the setting switch on the control panel, and the stroke position is digitally programmed to ensure precise positioning.

 
  1. Welding Torch Lifting Mechanism
The lifting and lowering movements of the welding torch lifting mechanism are driven pneumatically, offering advantages such as simple structure, fast and smooth operation, high repeatability, and ease of use. The guiding part of the lifting and lowering movements adopts linear rolling guide rails, ensuring stability, flexibility, and high repeatability of the movements. Magnetic switches are used for detecting the positioning signals of the welding torch lifting mechanism, ensuring reliable motion detection.

4. Each set of welding process parameters includes swing speed, swing amplitude, center position, left/center/right position dwell time, etc., and all parameters can be adjusted independently.
5. Simple and convenient installation, easy operation.

Hand-Operated Cross Slide

This component is one of the matching parts used during the welding process to make certain adjustments to the welding position. It features simple and flexible adjustment. It consists of an adjusting handle, screw, guide pillar, and frame. It comprises two-dimensional slides for height and horizontal adjustment, allowing adjustments in both height and lateral directions. It can also be used independently to achieve adjustments in one direction.
