Overview:

The Bore Measurement Device (BMD) is a high-precision measuring instrument with automatic display and automatic centering functions.

This gauge is easy to use and suitable for both static and dynamic measurements. Dimensional deviations and shape errors of the hole can be detected through manual measurements, and it can also be installed on measuring equipment for automatic detection.

This measurement system has advantages such as a wide range of applications, simple operation, high accuracy, and robust structure. There are many selectable basic models in standard products, and available accessories are provided to ensure that most diameters encountered in practical applications can be measured.

The display part of the gauge can be a mechanical dial, a digital display, or sensors connected to analytical equipment.


Introduction:

The mechanical transfer measurement system can be connected to any pen-type sensor, dial-type, or digital indicator.

With an application range from 3 to 270 millimeters, and with the use of a large number of accessories, it can be configured to measure holes with depths exceeding 500 millimeters and can measure holes perpendicular to the insertion direction.

With a large number of modular components, it meets various measurement needs.

Due to the very high precision of the mechanical transfer system, only a standard part is needed for zeroing.

This mechanical plug gauge has high precision, high reliability, and is very sturdy, requiring only periodic cleaning of the mechanical measurement transfer area with minimal maintenance.


Zero-point calibration:

Use a setting ring gauge for zero-point calibration, where the dimensions of the setting ring gauge are the same as the minimum size of the hole. This ensures a significant reduction in axial and radial errors during the calibration process.

Setting ring gauges following the JB/T11233-2012 standard are the most suitable for zero-point calibration. Larger size setting ring gauges, or setting ring gauges for minimum size, intermediate size, and maximum size, are typically not needed.



Measurement principle:

The guiding cylinder (4) ensures that the measuring point (6) of the probe is located at the axial and radial center of the hole. A tapered measuring needle (3) is ground to transmit the measuring travel of the measuring point to the dial indicator clamped on the handle (2) at a 1:1 ratio.

Repeatability:

The guiding cylinder of the plug gauge determines the position of the measuring point in the hole and ensures high repeatability. If the gap between the hole and the guiding cylinder is too small or too large, it can lead to a decrease in repeatability due to longitudinal or transverse tilting.

Design and Material Characteristics:

Measuring needle: Hard alloy, hardness approximately 1650HV.

Guide sleeve: Tool steel, hardness approximately 60HRC.

Surface of the guide sleeve plated with hard chromium, hardness approximately 1000HV (standard design).



Maintenance:
No special maintenance is required. When cleaning, remove the measuring needle and carefully clean the plug gauge body and measuring needle using compressed air and cleaning fluid.

Notes: Before installation, apply grease (such as Vaseline) to the tapered part of the measuring needle. When installing 6 series and 10 series measuring needles, make sure to reinstall the spring (4 series does not have a spring).

Remarks:
1. Increasing the measurement range and using special forms may reduce measurement accuracy.
2. The guide sleeve of the plug gauge determines the position of the measuring point at the center of the hole, ensuring higher repeatability. If the gap between the measured hole and the guide sleeve is too large, it can lead to a decrease in repeatability.


Ordering dimensions:
The ordering dimension of the plug gauge = the minimum size of the hole.
For example: φ35 (+0.105/+0.08), the ordering dimension is 35.08.
φ35 (+0.025/0), the ordering dimension is 35.0.


Mechanical Plug Gauge BMD Type:

When the diameter is less than 44.0mm, the guide body and the threaded connection part are integrated. When the diameter is greater than 44.0mm, the guide body and the threaded connection body are manufactured separately.

Basic types of plug gauges are typically used for manual measurements. Therefore, a guide groove is machined to prevent the plug gauge from being blocked when entering the hole. The BMD plug gauges of the 4 series do not have guide grooves.

Calibration of plug gauge:

Use a reference ring gauge to calibrate the plug gauge. It is best for the size of the reference ring gauge to be the same as the minimum size of the hole, which can reduce calibration errors. (Use one reference ring gauge for calibration.)
